Kristen Shivers Tumminello, was involved in music and theatre from a very young age. She caught the bug for all things performance around the age of 8 when she performed her first solo in Down by the Creekbank at her church. Mrs. T, as her students call her, went on to perform throughout her school years learning from some phenomenal and inspiring private and public school teachers.
Following High School she went on to earn her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Montevallo in Vocal Performance. That was followed by a Master of Music in Musical Theatre Performance from Oklahoma City University. Prior to working at Sparkman High, Mrs. T took education classes at Alabama A & M and finished her certification coursework through Athens State University.
After completing her Master’s Degree, Mrs. T worked both on and back stage for professional theatre and musical theater companies around the country. She also maintained a private vocal studio working with students that consistently earned accolades for their vocal and theatrical achievements.
2019 begins Mrs. Tumminello’s fifth year of service as an Alabama public school educator. She was formerly the Theatre Department Program Director for the Academy for Academics and Arts, Huntsville City School’s K-8 fine arts magnet school.
Mrs. Tumminello is thrilled to be a part of the Sparkman High School family and is excited to lead a new generation of Senators in theatre performance and technical theatre excellence.
